I really, really did not want to pay $100 a month to use Wistia’s pro features like a Call to Action or an email gateway.
I just wanted to put a call to action at the end of a video. Basically, all I wanted to do was make it to where users could click the video and be taken to another page. THAT’S IT.
I wanted to use Amazon S3 and Cloudfront to host my videos. I am not sure, but I think Wistia used S3 in their hosting but then adds a margin to it. So you’re essentially paying more for hosting than you need to, and a premium for features that should be simple.
I was desperately googling for how to add a call to action to a video, for Wistia alternatives, etc. when I happened upon a sponsored post for Easy Video Suite
But when I looked at the features list, I almost couldn’t believe my eyes — it was a one-time pay (I really dislike paying for SaaS!!) software option that allowed me to add a call-to-action into a video.
I watched ALL the videos on their sales page, and once I saw they had a 30-day money-back guarantee, I took the bait and bought it. I was seriously hoping this was not another software product that overpromised and underdelivered.
Easy Video Suitewas everything it promised to be. It was easy to use and their tutorial videos took me step-by-step through the process of connecting it to S3. I paid $197 plus $97 for a commercial license, meaning Ben can use the software, too — and charge his clients for it.
Not only is this a great alternative to Wistia (it saved me over $700!!), it actually does the Call to Action even better than Wistia could. I can actually make a call to action image and have it cover the entire screen, whereas with Wistia, there were limits to where you could place the call to action.
I also love that you can add frames to your videos so they look more professional.
I don’t use a lot of video in my marketing, which is why I did NOT want to pay $100 a month for Wistia … but using Easy Video Suiteactually makes me want to use more video.
